Pedicure Idea
Went to go paint my toes and it took me a minute to realize those were my dry, dehydrated appendages...realized my feet needed some serious maintenance...so heres what I came up with: Fill bucket/tub/whatever with warm water and a little baking soda, I also had dried lavender on hand so I tossed that in there...make a scrub with water, baking soda, and salt...scrub feet vigorously several times with this mixture, then wash & dry feet, any dead skin will be removed and the baking soda does leave skin feeling softer...as a final step I also liberally applied coconut oil and put on some socks (coconut oil is permitted by some HCGrs and forbidden by others)...my feet are nowhere near as pretty as they are when I am able to lather and slather, but they no longer look like they belong on a 90 year old, so all in all a success..
What day is it?!?
Always weird gettin' back in the groove when Monday is a Holiday....been so very uber good on this diet, and have lost the weight to show it! And best of all it's not hard like you might think, it is very restrictive, but the foods I am allowed are all things I enjoy anyway, and hunger is not an issue, despite the low caloric intake...best of all I feel really good, high energy, positive outlook, actually get tired at a decent hour, so I am getting enough sleep, so right now everythings golden...I have technically only about a week left if I were doing the 23-day program (since I skipped drops while on my period), but, I have a little more than half a bottle left I think I will try to go a full 40-day rotation (or until my drops run out)...my goal with this rotation is 20 lbs (more than halfway there!), my total goal is to lose 54 lbs (putting me at 112 - yes, i am short!)...so, if I lose 20+ this round, I can wait 6 weeks and do another round, which will hopefully get me to my goal...that's the "plan" anyway, I will update any changes...

****TMI Warning****
ok , so in the spirit of openness regarding my journey here, i have to admit that a huge side effect for me on this diet is a severely lowered sex drive - i mean my libido hasnt been this low since HCG was occurring naturally in my body (one of the trimesters, cant remember which)....read through pounds and inches, nothing mentioned as to this being a side effect, however, i have found a few posts from other HCG Dieters who have mentioned their diminished sex drive on HCG...havent seen anything as to whether or not it comes back, but I guess I'll let you know what I find....

Back on Drops, Feelin' Great!
Period is finally over, I started back on the drops again yesterday...went to a movie last night and then to a restaurant w/ friends...was a little embarrassed to order "house salad with No cheese, No carrots, No croutons, and Vinegar for dressing - no Not a vinaigrette, just vinegar - thanks!"...am so happy to note - not even tempted by the fries, coconut shrimp, calamari, or turkey sandwich my fellow diners ordered...however, the beer looked killer and I'll admit to salivating a bit over that, instead I downed my iced water in record time *g*...anyhoo, heres the stats...

Dinner Party's are possible on HCG...
We got together w/ 3 other couples this past Mon evening for dinner 5/8 of us are on Dr. Simeons HCG protocol, my husband is in maintenance (Phase 4), and 2 spouses are not on the protocol, yet we were able to have a delicious dinner (and dessert!) that all were happy with...I'm gonna post the vid here and recipe how-to below...
For Shrimp Scampi: We used jumbo shrimp, thawed and shelled, then weighed, 6=100g...Place shrimp in pan, saute with lemon juice, sea salt (we used grey sea salt), garlic, and crushed red pepper (for those not on HCG you can remove your shrimp and then add some butter to make the sauce a bit creamy)
For Salad: Kevin Trudeaus book has a list of certain authorized veggies that you can mix (among them are cabbage, lettuce, radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes)...you may choose to mix or simply serve shrimp w/ lettuce/spinach (use the sauce from the sauteed shrimp as your dressing)
For Dessert: Fresh strawberries w/ Lemon Ice: 1c water, 1 pkt stevia, juice of 1 lemon...mix well, place in freezer, check every 30 min, and scrape/mix to create a granita or you can freeze in ice cube trays and blend
We had a great evening, a filling (and Phase 2 appropriate) meal, and even those not on HCG enjoyed both dinner and dessert...Oh, almost forgot we had stevia sweetened iced yerba mate tea to drink...and, root beer )made with root beer flavored stevia and sparkling water - surprisingly good and very much like the real thing - whoda thunk?)

Feeling Great
Normally don't have much energy on my period, but am feeling amazing this week...Cleaned my house top to bottom yesterday (as well as my moms)...Got my laundry 90% done, started a project for a new client, did not take HCG yesterday per Dr. Simeons book, was not extra hungry and haven't had usual chocolate cravings that I get during my period (though did crave red meat yesterday)...

Ruby's Back In Town
Discovered yesterday morning that my period (cycle, menses, time of the month, rags, whatever you wanna call it) had come one week early - that's right 7 days early....I was soooo not prepared for that, though apparently this is not uncommon on HCG, in fact, 2 friend on HCG indicated they both started a week early as well....Not likin' the numbers since I started (and I have been faithful)...took drops yesterday, but holding off for remainder of period...hope this doesn't have longterm affects, I have been 28/day regular for over a decade and off the pill for 7 years so I'm a bit worried about returning to my regular cycle after HCG...Anyhoo, I hope these gains don't continue all week or I'll be back to where I started...

No change
Weigh In - 158.4 (no gain/loss)
Total Loss: 8.2
Dunno why no change....figured breadsticks would only affect me for a day, maybe it is having long reaching effects...only other change is addition of balsamic vinegar to my lettuce for dinner...will check to see if that is the problem and let you know.....

The Blahs
Had a rough day yesterday - not physically, woke up feeling great...but the day somehow turned about mid-morning when my darling daughter decided that disobeying me 30 seconds after I told her not to do something was going to be the days theme...drove me absolutely wonko! Slowly descended into a deep, dark pit of "leave me alone", and by dinnertime I was messed up (which resulted in me gorging on like 4 or 5 extra breadsticks dunked in balsamic vinegar and garlic salt - each new stick I would tell myself "this is stupid", but I didn't listen)....finally got myself a little together mid-evening (9-ish)...made a pot of herbal tea which I sipped for the rest of the evening, ran dd a bath & got her in bed around 10...stayed up way too late, but my mental health was on the mend by the time I went to bed (I'll know if I'm all better in an hour or so when I really wake up)....good news? Still experienced weight loss despite the breadstick fiasco...

Test of Fire
Woke up feeling a little dehydrated and dreaded this mornings weigh-in, sure I would have gained...attended a 50th anniversary party last night, my first real "test" since beginning...food, drinks, Cake!...but I was sooo good:-)....though I did splurge a little while getting ready - on my cosmetics! I used an eyeshadow w/ jojoba oil and a concealer w/ another oil...I probably spent an hour going back and forth whether or not to use them, but ultimately decided to - I don' know if that will have further repercussions, but my weigh-in wasn't disappointing as I feared...

Dinner Menu - Fish
Great Fish Recipe from a friend (thanks Teri!):
A great fillet of fish, spray the fish with liquid aminos, and throw on some "slap ya momma" seasoning(basically garlic, cayenne, salt, pepper, etc.)...top with asparagus, a couple lemon slices. Put it in parchment paper, and bake altogether.

During Your Period/Menstruation
Just a Reminder: No HCG during your period - stick to the diet, but stop the HCG for the duration of your period...excerpt from Dr. Simeon's Pounds and Inches book pgs 18-19:
Menstruation
During menstruation no injections are given, but the diet is continued and causes no hardship; yet as soon as the menstruation is over, the patients become extremely hungry unless the injections are resumed at once. It is very impressive to see the suffering of a woman who has continued her diet for a day or two beyond the end of the period without coming for her injection and then to hear the next day that all hunger ceased within a few hours after the injection and to see her once again content, florid and cheerful. While on the question of menstruation it must he added that in teenaged girls the period may in some rare cases be delayed and exceptionally stop altogether. If then later this is artificially induced some weight may be regained.

Early Bird Issue
Problem with getting up earlier than normal? You start eating earlier, all meals earlier and by midafternoon (read: NOW) you are ready for dinner, but still have 7-9 hours until bedtime....yikes! Should I stagger the extras? Have a breadstick now, dinner in an hour, and fruit later tonite?

For those of you that know me - don't have a heart attack - yes, it's me,and yes I am up this early (have been up for about an hour) - and productive no less!

HCG Diet (Dr. SImeons Pounds & Inches)
Ok, so my mom and hubby did this diet/cleanse (whatever you wanna call it)....mom didn't last, but hubby did 3 1/2 weeks - lost 20+ pounds and says he has never felt better in his life!....I held back (primarily 'cause I am a commitment phobe), however, hubby is now lighter than me and I'll admit that bothers me - so hear I am ....I started Phase 1 on Sat 5/1/09, 2 days of sublingual drops 3x/day + heavy eating to build up your fat stores....started Phase 2 yesterday (5/4/09), sublingual drops 3x/day as well as a very regimented diet, have lost 2 lbs, but having sever caffeine withdrawals (coffee is allowed, but not flavored creamer - so what's the point?), massive headaches that scream "a migraine is coming!", not really hungry yesterday but 'cause I am a nibbler I totally had the munchies! I just have to keep reminding myself of my goal (and try to be competitive "If shayne can do it, so can I")....I put a pick of me in a swimsuit from '98 on the fridge, I think I weighed about 110...not planning on getting that small again, but I'm using it as a visual aid....Have been hungry all day today, but I don't know if that's real hunger or the headache screaming for comfort food.....
